MOSCOW, November 1. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin paid a working visit to Uzbekistan on October 31, during which he discussed the fight against international terrorism and exchange of intelligence information with Chairman of the republic's State Security Service Abdusal Azizov, the press service for the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said.
"On October 31, 2023, Director of Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin paid a working visit to Uzbekistan, where he met with chairman of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov," the SVR press service informed."Special attention was paid to coordinated activities in the field of combating international terrorism, exchange of intelligence information on a wide range of regional and international issues, as well as consolidation of joint capabilities to address modern threats and challenges."
The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service added that at the talks the parties considered the main issues of interaction between the intelligence services of the two countries and discussed the prospects and priorities of joint work for the near future.
"The participants of the meeting stressed the constructive and mutually beneficial nature of cooperation of the agencies, which is an important element of the complex of measures to protect the national interests of Russia and Uzbekistan. They noted the same assessment of the development of the situation in Central Asia, as well as of a number of issues directly affecting the security of the two states," the SVR press service added.
"Sergey Naryshkin and Abdusalom Azizov supported continuing a regular and substantive dialogue to effectively address the tasks the friendly intelligence services face. As a result of the event, certain decisions were made on the further development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation," the SVR press service concluded.
