LUGANSK, May 30. /TASS/. The French national, who was killed on Monday on the Kiev-controlled territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), was accredited by Ukraine’s Armed Forces and was wearing no labels clearly identifying him as press, Leonard Svidovsky, head of the Lugansk Republic Union of Journalists and artistic director of the LPR GTRK broadcaster, told TASS on Monday.

"His press card was issued by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Its provision three reads that the Ukrainian Armed Forces bear no responsibility for his life," he said, adding that at the moment of death he was wearing "neither a vest (with the Press sign - TASS) nor any labels identifying him as press."

Earlier in the day, France’s President Emmanuel Macron confirmed on his Twitter account the death of French journalist Frederic Leclerc-Imhoff’s who covering the events in Ukraine.

BFM TV reported that the 32-year-old journalist worked as a camera man for the French television channel. This was his second trip to the zone of combat actions. According to the report, the journalist was in an armored vehicle and was killed when a shell exploded.
