MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. It is highly unlikely that Moscow and Warsaw will sever diplomatic relations, but the Russian embassy to Poland will probably be closed for a while, Russian ambassador in Warsaw Sergey Andreev said on the Soloviev Live project on Saturday.

"Probably it will not go as far as the breakup of relations. We might be forced to close our embassy here for a while, and of course, in this case, Poles will have to close their embassy in Moscow. Whatever happens, let’s wait and see," he said.

"Let us not exaggerate. It is hard for our servicemen in Ukraine, it is hard in other hot spots, but Poland is a peaceful country, we work in peaceful conditions," Andreev added.

On Wednesday, the Russian ambassador to Poland was summoned by the Polish Foreign Ministry, where he was handed a note ordering the expulsion of 45 Russian diplomats on alleged espionage charges, according to Warsaw. Andreev said that "there are no grounds for this" decision and stated that Russia would respond in kind.

The ambassador himself is not on the list of expelled diplomats. Andreev said that diplomatic relations between the countries remained in force and the Russian embassy to Poland continued with its work. All 45 diplomats subjected to deportation must leave the country by late Monday, March 28.
