One child dead, two injured in school shooting in Finland — police

The teenage shooter has been detained

HELSINKI, April 2. / TASS /. A 12-year-old teenager has died and two others have been injured as a result of a shooting incident at a school in the Viertola district of the city of Vantaa in Finland’s capital region, police representative Ilkka Koskimaki reported at a briefing.

"Today, shortly after 09:00 a.m., there was a shooting at the Viertola school, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old child. Two other children sustained serious injuries," he said.

Earlier, law enforcement officials stated that a shooting incident had occurred in the morning at the Viertola school in Vantaa, as a result of which three teenagers were injured. The teenage shooter has been detained.
