MOSCOW, January 29. / TASS /. Russia's permanent envoy to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said he is confident that the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline will be built. In an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel he said:
"It is clear that in the long-term perspective the EU’s need for natural gas will be only growing. Not that the European economy will make a breakthrough - there is no reason to talk about its rapid growth - but mainly because the production of gas in the EU will be decreasing."
"Nord Stream-2 will be [built]," - he said. Chizhov did not rule out that the project of the South Stream pipeline may be revived in the near future.
