Tourist flow from South Korea to Russia may grow exponentially — expert

About 19,000 tourists from the Republic of Korea arrived in Russia in 2025

SEOUL, September 28. /TASS/. The tourist flow from the Republic of Korea to Russia may grow to 300,000 travelers annually in the next 3-4 years, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Andrey Ignatyev said.

"If we follow the best-case scenario, then the number of travelers from [the Republic of] Korea to Russia will reach 300,000 people in three – four years on condition of direct flights," the expert said. "In the worst-case scenario, if there are no direct flights, then the number of travelers will be about 40,000 in 3-4 years," he noted.

About 19,000 tourists from the Republic of Korea arrived in Russia in 2025. This figure is much lower than the one before the coronavirus pandemic. Travelers mainly visit Vladivostok for 3-4 days after the pandemic, Ignatyev said.

"The only point of concern for us is the impossibility of direct flights," the vice president said. "The Russian tourist business did not sit on its hands in recent years. We did a lot to attract foreign tourists from different countries, including from [the Republic of] Korea, to the Russian Federation," he added.
