MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. The households money with Russian banks contracted by 1.4% or by 0.9 trillion rubles ($11.7 bln) to 65.9 trillion rubles ($855.8 bln), the Central Bank informed.
"Funds of the population decreased in January (-0.9 trillion rubles ($11.7 bln), -1.4%) after +5.6% in December. Such development occurs every year: awards and bonuses are paid in December, the government makes advance social payments, and in January people withdraw a portion of funds for accounts and generally spend a lot during long holidays," the regulator said.
The growth rate of the debts under mortgage loans of households slowed down to 0.9% in January 2026 and totaled 24 trillion rubles ($311.7 bln), the Bank of Russia added.
