MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. As Russia’s economy grows, so too must wages, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the 12th congress of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions.
"This is exactly the task we have set for ourselves and I reiterate - the expansion of Russia’s technology and industrial capabilities and growth of the national economy must be directly translated into increased welfare for our citizens, into a rise in wages and salaries. The share of wages in the national GDP must grow convincingly in the next six years," the President said, stressing that this indicator "is growing already."
The share of wages in GDP was 38.5% in 2022 and as much as 40.7% in 2023, the head of state said. "This is reflected not merely in the people’s welfare. It is reflected in purchasing power and thus in the economy, in entire branches of production," Putin said, noting at the same time that "everything must be balanced."
