Hosting provider to deploy server equipment on North Pole

The experiment will begin in late March - early April

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Russia's RuVDS Company, plans an experiment to deploy server equipment in the immediate vicinity of the North Pole, the company told TASS.

"A compact data center will be launched on the territory of the Barneo ice camp, located in the immediate vicinity of the North Pole. The experiment will begin in late March - early April," the company said. The project's term will be one month. During this time, specialists will test the equipment by transmitting telemetry data from the RuVDS satellite in orbit.

Everyone will be able to watch the work of the Arctic data center - a specially launched website will offer an access to the information stored there.

"In this experiment, we continue to test reliability of the existing server hardware. The topic of the Arctic is more than relevant nowadays, and I am sure we will have something to offer to those who will develop it in terms of communications and infrastructures. Noteworthy, our spacecraft, launched into orbit last year, flies over the pole every 1.5 hours. Thus, unlike when a spacecraft is flying over a city, the received signal will be without any interference," the company's CEO Nikita Tsaplin said.
