MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Inflation in Russia geared down over the period from February 13 to 19, 2024 in weekly terms and totaled 0.11%, according to the Russian national statistical agency Rosstat.
Consumer prices gained 0.43% from early February and 1.29% from the year start.
In the food sector, the price hike was 0.6% for canned meat for infants, 0.5% for canned fruits and vegetables for infants and dry infant formulas, 0.4% for mutton, pasteurized milk and cookies, 0.3% for beef, butter, edible sault and vodka, and 0.2% for half smoked and cooked smoked sausages, curd, chicken eggs, granulated sugar and pasta. The rise in prices for fruits and vegetables was 2.5% for cucumbers, 2.1% for white cabbage, 1.8% for sugar beet, 1.6% for tomatoes, 1.4% for carrots, 1.1% for bananas, 0.9% for onions, 0.4% for apples, and 0.3% for potatoes.
Prices declined at the same time by 0.6% for buckwheat, 0.5% for black tea, 0.3% for sausages, frankfurters, and millet, and by 0.2% for margarine.
In the nonfood sector, prices ticked up by chipboards and oriented stranded boards by 0.7% and for children’s T-shirts by 0.3%. Prices dropped by 0.6% for smartphones and by 0.4% for TV sets.
Diesel fuel prices lost 0.1%.
