KEMEROVO, November 20. /TASS/. Russia supplied 76.5 mln metric tons of coal to China and 21.3 mln metric tons to India in January-September 2023, department director of the Russian Energy Ministry Pyotr Bobylev said.
"76.5 mln metric tons were exported to China over nine months of this year. This is already more than throughout the last year; 21.3 mln metric tons [were exported] to India. In other words, we stepped over the last year on the whole," the official said. Coal deliveries totaled 67 mln metric tons for China and 20 mln metric tons for India as of 2022 year-end.
Export growth dynamics is stable for BRICS countries, Bobylev noted. They account for 40% of Russian coal exports.
"Exports to BRICS countries surged by 2.5 times over the last five-six year. Not only in the year of sanctions - dynamics is stable. To date, BRICS countries account for 40% of total Russian coal exports," he added.
