MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. Russia is developing relations with Egypt on equal footing despite the attempts by some countries to legitimize global domination, with trade turnover between the two countries growing fast, having reached $6 bln, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the opening of an exhibition devoted to the 80th anniversary since establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Egypt.
"We see more attempts to legitimize the domination of a narrow group of countries on the global arena, but <…> self-respecting countries that put value on their history, their traditions, protect their right to independently define their development paths and independently, without any prompting or bans from outside, choose their friends. We develop our strategic, partnership relations with Egypt particularly on such grounds, on the grounds of respecting each other’s national interests. Our trade and economic ties are growing fast. Trade turnover rose to $6 bln in 2022," he said.
This is an almost 30% increase compared with the previous year, the minister stressed. "Another meeting of the trade and economic intergovernmental commission took place in March, which saw new decisions on further promotion of our joint projects taken," he added.
