HAIKOU, February 14. /TASS/. The volume of gas output of the deep-water semi-submersible platform "Shenhai-1" located off the coast of Hainan’s Linshui County exceeded 1 billion cubic meters. This was reported by the newspaper the Hainan Daily.
The total length of the gas pipeline network reaches 60 kilometers, and the temperature fluctuations during its operation range from -25 to 200 degrees Celsius. As the newspaper notes, 57 employees were on watch on the platform to ensure its uninterrupted work around the clock during the Lunar New Year holiday week which lasted from January 31 to February 6.
The experience gained in the operation of Shenhai-1 will be used in the implementation of the Shenhai-2 project at the Linshui-25-1 field.
CNOOC's Shenhai-1 offshore platform is operating at a depth of 1.5 kilometers. Operation of the field, which is considered the deepest of those that China has discovered and started to develop on its own, began on June 25, 2021.
The platform is expected to produce up to 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year. This is enough to meet about a quarter of the gas needs of Hainan and the "Big Bay" region, which includes Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Macau.
