MOSCOW, October 20 /TASS/. French DCNS will not dismantle part of the Russian gear, which Egypt said it would use, from the Mistral helicopter carriers, a source linked to military-technological cooperation with foreign countries told TASS on Tuesday.
"At present, negotiations are under way to make the list of Russian equipment, which was previously installed on the Mistral-class ships at the Russian Navy request and which the Egyptian side has chosen for use at the ships which they have bought from France," the source said.
He clarified that the Russian gear, which Egypt does not need, would be dismantled and sent to Russia. But the Egypt-selected systems will stay on the Mistrals in order to reduce costs, the source added.
He said that the list would include flight guidance systems for Ka-52K shipborne helicopters, which the Egyptian side is planning to buy from Russia.
