NATO was preparing Ukraine for attack on Russia, Duma Speaker says

Vyacheslav Volodin pointed to the decisions on weapon deliveries to Ukraine that were made by the US Congress in January

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. Decisions by the US Congress on arms supplies to Ukraine made back in January prove NATO’s intention to prepare that country for an attack on Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin, by launching a special military operation in Ukraine, managed to prevent it, Russia’s State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.

"Our soldiers and officers prevented an enormous tragedy. NATO was getting Ukraine ready for an attack on our country. How else can one explain that all the decisions on weapon deliveries to Ukraine were made by the US Congress in January. Even before the special military operation," the top legislator emphasized.

He noted that nowadays, the Ukrainians are just the "expendable material" for Washington while "nationalism has become Kiev’s state ideology."

"If it wasn’t for the decisions made by President Putin, military operations would have been conducted on our soil. He managed to prevent the attack on Russia," the Duma speaker stressed.
