MOSCOW, April 7./TASS/. Militants from a nationalist battalion have shelled near Kharkov vehicles carrying civilians who wanted to independently leave for Russia. Some people were wounded, Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said on Thursday.
At checkpoints at the exit from the settlements of Dergachi and Slatini in the Kharkov region, militants from a nationalist battalion fired at cars with civilians who were trying to leave in the direction of the Russian Federation. Some people were wounded," said Mizintsev, who heads the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine.
According to him, it is only possible to exit the blocked settlements controlled by Ukrainian military with the help of the so-called guides - local residents who had joined the territorial defense units. They ensure an unimpeded exit through the checkpoints, charging $100-200.
