NEW YORK, November 6. /TASS/. The Philadelphia police do not confirm Donald Trump’s reports of "massive cheating" that has reportedly taken place in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, CNN said.
Police replied they did not know of any issues with voting that required a law enforcement response.
According to the CNN report, Trump "has for years made baseless claims about election cheating in Philadelphia."
Battleground states, also known as swing states, include Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. They are critically important for the US presidential election, because the outcome of the vote there is unpredictable. At the same time, they have a large number of votes in the electoral college that can turn the tide of the election.
The US presidential election is taking place on November 5, with voters also selecting a third of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives, and governors for 11 states and 2 territories.
Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are vying for the presidency. Trump, who served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, is seeking a return to the White House after losing to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Harris has been serving as vice president since January 2021.
