US calls on Ukraine to halt drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure — FT

According to the newspaper, the goal behind Ukrainian airstrikes is to reduce funding for the Russian special military operation and spur Washington into approving another military aid package for Ukraine

LONDON, March 22. /TASS/. The United States has cautioned Ukraine against striking Russian fuel and energy infrastructure, the Financial Times (FT) reported, citing sources.

People familiar with the discussions told the British newspaper that drone attacks on Russian energy facilities risk pushing up global crude prices. In addition, Washington is concerned that Russia may retaliate with attacks on enemy infrastructure on which the West relies, the FT wrote. This includes the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) being used by US oil majors ExxonMobil and Chevron and other Western companies.

"We do not encourage or enable attacks inside of Russia," the FT quoted a spokesperson for the US National Security Council (NSC) the as saying.

According to the newspaper, the goal behind Ukrainian airstrikes is, among other things, to reduce funding for the Russian special military operation and spur Washington into approving another military aid package for Ukraine.

Ukrainian drones have attacked several civilian facilities in Russian regions in the past few weeks, including oil refineries.
