TEL AVIV, March 12. /TASS/. Israel has delivered strikes on some 4,500 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and Syria since October 7, 2023, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
"Strikes are being delivered every day on Hezbollah facilities, commander and structures. Some 4,500 Hezbollah targets have been hit. In the past five months," the IDF said, adding that Israeli warplanes have hit more than 1,200 targets and more than 3,100 targets have been hit from the ground.
According to the IDF, Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and Syria included weapons depots, military structures, and command centers.
"Since the beginning of the war, the IDF has killed more than 300 [Hezbollah] terrorists and wounded over 750, including five senior commanders. The IDF also struck dozens of terrorist squads that fired anti-tank missiles at Israel. These strikes are damaging the air and ground forces of Hezbollah, as well as subordination within the organization," it said.
The IDF stressed that its operations against Hezbollah are a response to continuing attacks by Hezbollah units on civilians and settlements in Israel and are geared to push Hezbollah fighters from southern Lebanon so that resident of northern Israel could return to their homes.
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
The situation on Israel’s northern border continues escalating, with regular shelling attacks coming from Lebanon. Israel strikes back. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israeli forces target Hezbollah facilities. More than 80,000 Israelis have been evacuated from border areas.
