Senegal dissolves government, appoints new prime minister — news portal

PRETORIA, March 7. /TASS/. Senegalese President Macky Sall dissolved the country's government, and Sidiki Kaba, who previously served as Internal Affairs Minister, was appointed as the new prime minister, the Senegalese news portal Seneweb reported with reference to a statement by the administration of the President of the African country.

"The head of government has been relieved of his post due to the fact that he must conduct a presidential election campaign," the statement said. Already former Prime Minister Amadou Ba is a candidate from the ruling party.

As Reuters reported, Senegalese President Macky Sall has scheduled presidential elections for March 24. Sall's decision came after the Constitutional Council declared unconstitutional the head of state's proposal to hold presidential elections on June 2.

Presidential elections in Senegal are held in two rounds if in the first round none of the candidates receives 50% plus one vote.
