BEIJING, February 26. /TASS/. The European Union’s sanctions against Russia and its partners will negatively influence China’s trade and economic relations with Europe, the Ministry of Commerce of China said in a statement.
"Such actions <…> will have an adverse impact on economic and trade relations between the People’s Republic of China and the EU," according to a statement released by the Chinese ministry as Brussels approved the 13th package of sanctions against Moscow, with several Chinese companies included. "China lodges a strong protest due to this <…>, we will firmly protect the legal rights and interests of our companies," the ministry noted.
The EU’s unilateral measures "neglect the rule of international law and resolutions of the UN Security Council," the ministry said, adding that they also "contradict the spirit of consensus," which has been reached by China and the EU at the top level.
"We urge that the European side unquestioningly stop putting Chinese enterprises on sanctions lists, considering the general situation concerning comprehensive strategic partnership between the People’s Republic of China and the European Union," the statement reads.
On February 23, the EU imposed the 13th package of anti-Russia sanctions, which apart from individuals and legal entities from Russia and other countries includes three companies from mainland China and one Hong Kong firm. In particular, Guangzhou Ausay Technology, Shenzhen Biguang Trading, Yilufa Electronics, as well as RG Solutions Limited, were blacklisted.
