Hungary’s PM wants to 'take over Brussels' in effort to reform EU

The Hungarian government has repeatedly stated that it expects the EU leadership to look different after the European Parliament elections to be held in June 2024

BUDAPEST, December 13. /TASS/. Hungary does not intend to leave the European Union, but does want to see wholesale changes within the organization, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said of his plans to reform the EU in an interview with the Mandiner magazine.

Asked whether Hungary would leave the EU, he said: "Not leave, but join. Join it! My plan is not to leave, but to take over Brussels."

The Hungarian government has repeatedly stated that it expects the EU leadership to look different after the European Parliament elections to be held in June 2024. Budapest sees them as essential to strengthening the position of right-wing parties in Europe.
