TEL AVIV, November 24. /TASS/. The Israel Prison Service has received a list of 39 Palestinian prisoners who will be released on Friday and begun preparations for their release, the Times of Israel newspaper said.
According to the news outlet, all prisoners to be released are minors and women. By 12 p.m. local time (10 a.m. GMT), they should be transferred to a jail in the West Bank and subsequently return to their homes there and in East Jerusalem.
According to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the security services have been on alert since Thursday to prevent demonstrations on Palestinian territories following the prisoners’ release.
On November 22, Hamas reported reaching an agreement with Israel, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, on a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip that would last four days. The movement confirmed that the agreements envisage the release of 50 women, children and teenagers held in the enclave in exchange for the release of 150 women, children and teenagers from Israeli prisons. According to Arab news outlets, the ceasefire in the enclave came into effect at 7 a.m. local time (5 a.m. GMT) on Friday.
