MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. The issue of Ukraine is getting a fresh round of attention at the UN following Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election, said Russia’s first deputy envoy to the UN Dmitry Polyansky.
"After Trump's victory, the issue of Ukraine is getting another dimension. People started actively commenting behind the scenes, making forecasts about where things could go now," he said at a news conference.
"I don't think this will be a strong position for Westerners to continue this discussion," Polyansky said. "We'll see, but in any case, it is clear that for the time being, the Ukrainian issue will remain afloat in the Security Council and will remain in the UN as a whole for some time to come."
Trump defeated Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in the November 5 election. The Republicans also took control of the Senate. Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025.
