Israeli strike on UN school in Jabalia leaves over 30 dead — Al Mayadeen

According to the report, the school was used as a shelter for thousands of internally displaced persons

BEIRUT, November 24. /TASS/. Israel delivered a deadly missile strike on a school of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the city of Jabalia in the north of the Gaza Strip, the Al Mayadeen television reported.

According to the report, the school was used as a shelter for thousands of internally displaced persons.

"The air strike killed 30 people, who were inside the building. Another 100 were wounded," a Palestinian Red Crescent staffer told the television.

He added that many of the wounded were in a critical condition, and the death toll is likely to rise.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said on November 19 that as man as 176 people were seeking refuge at the agency’s facilities had been killed and around 800 has been wounded since the beginning of the escalation in the Middle East. The agency is verifying data on the losses among its employees.

According to his estimates, around 690,000 internally displaced persons are now taking shelter in 149 facilities of the UN agency all over the enclave.
