SIMFEROPOL, October 24. /TASS/. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) could not have successfully carried out the attack on the Crimean bridge without support from the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the UK Foreign Intelligence Service MI-6, the speaker of Crimea’s legislature, Vladimir Konstantinov, has told TASS, commenting on an article in the US daily The Washington Post.
On July 17, 2023, two Ukrainian surface drones carried out an overnight terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge. Russia’s Investigative Committee launched criminal proceedings over a terrorist act. The first terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge was carried out in October last year. It took several months to repair the facility.
"The terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge was a well-planned operation, conducted with the help of Western military aircraft and reconnaissance drones. Just like in the first case, three countries were involved. The SBU alone, without the CIA and MI6, would have never managed to do that. All their attempts to disclaim involvement are unable to persuade us. Of course, the intelligence services of the United States and Britain are complicit in the crimes committed by the terrorist regime in Kiev. They will not be able to dodge responsibility," Konstantinov said.
According to The Washington Post, a number of high-profile terrorist attacks against Russia were carried out by SBU officers with the involvement of the US Central Intelligence Agency. According to the daily’s sources among former and current representatives of the US and the Ukrainian authorities, the terrorist attack against Daria Dugina, organized by the SBU in August 2022, was part of a "raging shadow war in which Ukraine's spy services have also twice bombed the bridge connecting Russia to Crimea, piloted drones into the roof of the Kremlin and blown holes in the hulls of Russian naval vessels in the Black Sea."
The daily also points out that since 2015 "the CIA has spent tens of millions of dollars to transform Ukraine's Soviet-formed services into potent allies against Moscow." In particular, the Americans "provided Ukraine with advanced surveillance systems, trained recruits at sites in Ukraine as well as the United States, built new headquarters for departments in Ukraine's military intelligence agency, and shared intelligence on a scale that would have been unimaginable" before Crimea's reunification with Russia.
