Russian embassy to Estonia suspends accepting applications for citizenship renunciation

Neither the reasons for nor the duration of this measure have been disclosed

VILNIUS, January 18. /TASS/. Applications to renounce Russian citizenship are no longer being accepted in Estonia, the Russian embassy in Tallinn said on Wednesday.

"Acceptance of applications to renounce Russian citizenship has been temporarily stopped," reads the announcement on the embassy’s website in the section of consular matters.

Neither the reasons for nor the duration of this measure have been disclosed.

Estonia has a population of 1.3 million, of whom about 90,000 have Russian citizenship.
