Ukrainian army mines dam near Lisichansk — source

Efforts are underway to prevent Ukrainian militants from blowing up the dam and partially flood the settlement, the source said

LUGANSK, June 23. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have mined a dam in the Maloryazantsevo settlement several kilometers from the city of Lisichansk, a source close to the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) told TASS.

"According to the latest information, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have planted mines at several sites in Maloryazantsevo. Efforts are underway to prevent Ukrainian militants from blowing up the dam and partially flood the settlement," the source said.

Since the beginning of the week, LPR militia units and Russian forces have taken control of several settlements south of Lisichansk. According to earlier reports, Ukrainian troops have been driven out of residential areas in the city of Severodonetsk. An operation continues to encircle Ukrainian forces in Lisichansk, particularly at the Azot plant. Up to 6,000 Ukrainian troops may be surrounded there, while another 1,300 Ukrainian service members and mercenaries have been encircled near the Gorskoye and Zolotoye settlements south of Lisichansk.
