Danish mercenary killed in Ukraine - foreign ministry

The man joined the Ukrainian foreign legion in early March and was one of 100 Danish mercenaries fighting in the country

STOCKHOLM, May 1. /TASS/. A 25-year-old Danish citizen, who went to Ukraine and joined the foreign legion, was identified by his family members and is presumed dead, the Danish Foreign Ministry has said.

"The foreign ministry maintains dialogue with the family of a Danish citizen presumably killed in Ukraine. In view of available data, the family has identified him, and presumes that he is dead," the ministry said in response to a request, filed by the TB2 television. "The ministry should protect confidentiality in personal matters and cannot disclose any details."

According to information, gathered by TB2, the man joined the Ukrainian foreign legion in early March and was one of 100 Danish mercenaries fighting in the country.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by heads of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, but the goal is demilitarization and denazification of that country.
