One man wounded as gunfire breaks out on Kyrgyz-Tajik border again

On Tuesday, another skirmish between the border guards of the two countries took place near the Kyrgyz village of Selkana in the Batken region

BISHKEK, April 12. /TASS/. Gunfire between Kyrgyz and Tajik border guards broke out for a second time on Tuesday, leaving one serviceman wounded, the border guard service of Kyrgyzstan said.

"A second incident involving firearms took place on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on April 12, 2022," the agency said in a statement. The gunfire lasted about 30 minutes, leaving a Kyrgyz serviceman wounded.

The border guard service said Tajikistan used mortars to fire toward the Kyrgyz settlement of Dostuk.

"The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic calls on Tajik colleagues to prevent escalation of the situation on the jointly guarded border and to stop shelling civilians," the statement said.

On Tuesday, another skirmish between the border guards of the two countries took place near the Kyrgyz village of Selkana in the Batken region. The gunfire broke out after Tajik border guards went 20 kilometers into the Kyrgyz territory. A Tajik serviceman was wounded.
