Mexican president to discuss supplies of Russian anti-coronavirus vaccine with Putin

The sides will discuss bilateral relations and supplies of the Russian vaccine to Mexico, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will speak with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, over the phone on Monday to discuss supplies of the Russian anti-coronavirus vaccine, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Sunday.

"I inform you that President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will have a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, at 08:00 a.m. (17:00 Moscow time) tomorrow. The sides will discuss bilateral relations and supplies of the Russian vaccine to Mexico," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel on January 21 that the Sputnik V anti-coronavirus vaccine was expected to be soon registered in Mexico.

In August 2020, Russia was the world’s first to register a vaccine against the novel coronavirus infection. The vaccine, Sputnik V, was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Health Ministry.
