DUBAI, December 10. /TASS/. Russian Olympic champion Albert Batyrgaziev has won the first professional title of the International Boxing Association (IBA), defeating three-time amateur world champion Lazaro Alvarez of Cuba by judges' decision in a ten-round title bout in the 60 kg weight class at the IBA Champions Night in Dubai.
The first professional IBA title was played out during the match.
Batyrgaziev is 25 years old, has 11 wins (seven by knockout) and no losses in the professional ring. He is an IBF Intercontinental Champion, Champion of the Eurasian Boxing Parliament, Champion of Asia according to the World Boxing Association (WBA) and Champion of Europe according to the World Boxing Organization. Batyrgaziev has also won the Tokyo Olympics and four gold medals at Russian championships.
The record list of 32-year-old Alvarez includes six wins (three by knockout), and one defeat. As an amateur, he has won the World Championships (2011, 2013, 2015), Pan American Games (2011, 2015, 2019) and Olympic bronze medals (2012, 2016, 2020) three times each.
