MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. Serbian screenwriter and director Emir Kusturica told TASS that he is considering making a movie about the events of the special military operation and finds the liberation operation in the Sudzha district of the Kursk Region the most notable episode.
"I have an idea. One of the best ideas that could work would be [to tell the story about the pipeline] through which they (the Russian soldiers — TASS) liberated the city," the director said. Kusturica added that, in his opinion, such a storyline would allow for the most powerful account of the events. "I think it would be the best way to tell the story of what happened there, both metaphorically and in terms of the military strategy [involved in the operation]" he concluded.
On March 11, 2025, the Russian Defense Ministry reported details of an operation by Russian commandos in Sudzha, Kursk Region, during which over 600 soldiers of a combined assault unit traversed approximately 15 km through a gas pipeline and unexpectedly emerged deep inside enemy lines. By engaging in active combat in the enemy’s rear, the Russian troops secured a breakthrough for advancing Russian forces attacking from opposite directions.
