MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. The number of cybercrimes in Russia has doubled over the last five years, with more than half of them considered to be very serious, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev stated at the government commission’s meeting on crime prevention.

"Over the past five years, the number of unlawful acts in this area has doubled. Currently, this accounts for a third of all registered crimes. More than half of them are categorized as serious or especially grave. The main bulk is related to theft and fraud," Russian Interior Ministry Spokeswoman Irina Volk quoted the minister as saying on Telegram.

In addition, Kolokoltsev reported that cyber-attacks on companies, as well as cases of money being stolen remotely from citizens are being recorded more often, while criminal schemes, including the withdrawal of illegally obtained income, are constantly changing.
