Interior Ministry issues Russian passports to 170 evacuees from Gaza, 50 more waiting

The Interior Ministry added that the organized transportation of evacuees from the Gaza Strip is now finished

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Employees of the Russian Interior Ministry's Main Directorate for Migration have issued Russian passports to 170 evacuees from the Gaza Strip, the agency's press service reported.

"Over 170 passports have been drawn up and issued so far. Measures to establish the identity of 50 people are being carried out, issues regarding the procedure of consular legalization of documents issued in Palestine in Russia are being resolved. These citizens will also get passports upon completion of these actions," the press center said.

The Interior Ministry added that the organized transportation of evacuees from the Gaza Strip is now finished. "Migration units of territorial bodies of the Russian Interior Ministry continue to work on the settlement of the legal status of those who arrived and the issuance of documents to them," the ministry added.

A total of 1,124 people were brought to Russia from November 13 to December 19, 643 of whom are Russian citizens. A total of 518 children were flown to Russia, 320 of whom are Russians. The Russian Emergencies Ministry's special flight delivered the last group of Russian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Moscow yesterday. The citizens who arrived on the final flight were sent to temporary accommodation centers. Employees of the Russian Interior Ministry's migration units are advising them, including on how to restore lost documents and obtain legal statuses.
