Baby panda from Moscow Zoo takes her inaugural steps

It is highlighted that the baby bear seemed to be surprised at her own achievement

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. The baby panda that was born at the Moscow Zoo last summer has taken her first steps, zoo director general Svetlana Akulova wrote on her Telegram channel.

"Our baby [panda] has taken her first hesitant steps. She struggled to do so, as she made concerted efforts just to get up for quite a while. And then she stood up, made a step and…toppled over. The baby [bear] seemed to be surprised at her own achievement," Akulova wrote.

Two big pandas — a male named Ru Yi and a female named Ding Ding — were brought to Moscow on April 29, 2019. At the end of August 2023, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced the birth of Russia’s first big panda cub at the Moscow Zoo.
