Tyumen Region resident arrested for aiding Ukraine — FSB

TYUMEN, November 15. /TASS/. A resident of the Tyumen Region has been accused of treason against Russia as he aided Ukraine by conveying information about military facilities in the region, the regional office of the Federal Security Service (FSB) for the Tyumen Region told TASS.

The man has been arrested and criminal charges have been filed.

"As a result of operational and investigative measures carried out, the employees of the Russian Federal Security Service of the Tyumen region received information that served as a basis for initiating criminal proceedings on committing treason in the form of rendering assistance to a representative of a foreign state in activities that threaten Russian security (Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code) against a resident of the Tyumen region. A preventive measure in the form of detention for two months has been chosen for him," the agency's source said.

According to the investigation, the man collected and transferred information to the Ukrainian security services about military facilities located on the territory of the Tyumen region at the order of the Ukrainian special services for monetary remuneration. Criminal liability for committing this crime carries a sentence of up to life imprisonment, the FSB added.
