Elite units of Syrian troops deployed to Aleppo to defeat gangs — newspaper

Earlier, Syrian servicemen eliminated dozens of Jabhat al-Nusra militants during clashes in northern Aleppo

BEIRUT, November 29. /TASS/. Soldiers of the Syrian army's elite divisions have been deployed to the north of the country to strengthen the defense of the city of Aleppo (360 km from Damascus) and defeat gangs, Al Watan reported.

A military source told the newspaper that the elite units of the Syrian troops, particularly the 4th Armored, 11th and 25th Special Forces Divisions, have advanced to the north via the highway through Khanasir and have now taken up positions on the front line.

The source denied the statement by the Jabhat al-Nusra extremist group (banned in Russia) that it is allegedly fighting government forces within the city limits, particularly at the western entrance to Aleppo. According to him, this information does not correspond to the real situation on the front.

Earlier, Syrian servicemen eliminated dozens of Jabhat al-Nusra militants during clashes in northern Aleppo. According to the newspaper, the terrorists tried several times to break through the defense lines of the government forces near the village of Anadan, but were repelled.
