Russia to block US State Department websites with fake data on operation — lawmaker

At the request of the Duma commission, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation conducted an investigation

MOSCOW, June 9. /TASS/. Russia will block US State Department websites and Internet mass mailing services that disseminate fake information about the Russian armed forces and the special military operation in Ukraine, chairman of the State Duma’s commission for investigation of foreign interference in Russia’s internal affairs, Vasily Piskaryov, said on Thursday.

"Resources of the US State Department and Internet services for mass mailings of emails to Russian citizens containing fakes that discredit Russian military servicemen and the special military operation in Ukraine will be blocked," he was quoted by the commission in a statement.

Piskaryov said at the request of the Duma commission, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation conducted an investigation, and one of its results was an appeal to Roskomnadzor demanding that measures be taken to restrict access to information from the US Department of State about the anti-Russian campaign and Internet services "created to send millions of provocative emails and SMS messages to Russians."

The lawmaker said that large-scale resources were have been employed to stage the anti-Russian campaign, and that "everything is being done to sow panic and distrust in society" toward the Russian armed forces and the country's leadership, and to discredit the special military operation. "All such actions are recorded, they are given a legal assessment. We have already submitted a package of bills aimed, among other things, at suppressing such actions," Piskaryov said. "The commission will continue to work to improve legislation on protecting the sovereignty of the Russian Federation.".
