US TV channels stop broadcasting in Russia

In turn, BBC News has said it would continue its service in Russian from outside of Russia

NEW YORK, March 5. /TASS/. The US-based CBS, ABC and CNN News television channels have stopped broadcasting in Russia amid the introduction of a law punishing fake news.

"CBS News is not currently broadcasting from Russia as we monitor the circumstances for our team on the ground given the new media laws passed today," CBS News stated, according to the Deadline portal

ABC News also said that due to "new censorship law passed in Russia today, some Western networks including ABC News are not broadcasting from the country tonight."

Earlier CNN announced the suspension of broadcasting in Russia, then the Bloomberg news agency reported that its journalists suspended work in Russia.

In turn, BBC News has said it would continue its service in Russian from outside of Russia.

On March 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law a bill introducing criminal liability for spreading fake news regarding the Russian Armed Forces.
