Criminal cases opened into use of violence against police officers at Moscow rally

The decision made based on the results of the pre-investigation inquiries conducted by the investigative bodies

MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. The investigators have instituted criminal proceedings following illegal actions at the unauthorized rally in downtown Moscow, including the use of violence against law enforcers, Yulia Ivanova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee’s Moscow department, told TASS on Saturday.

"Based on the results of the pre-investigation inquiries conducted by the investigative bodies of the Moscow Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee, criminal cases were opened on the grounds of crime under Article 318 of Russia’s Criminal Code (the use of violence against a public official), Article 167 of Russia’s Criminal Code (intentional destruction or damage to property) and Article 213 of Russia’s Criminal Code (hooliganism)," she said.
