MOSCOW, May 6. /TASS/. Any cosmonaut will be glad to be Russia’s first representative to make a flight to the Moon, Roscosmos Cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov told TASS on Friday.
"Such missions are always interesting and any cosmonaut will be glad to take part in such a flight," Dubrov said, responding to a question about whether he wanted to take part in the first flight to the Moon.
The first manned mission to the Earth’s natural satellite should focus on testing equipment, the spacecraft and ballistic pathways, he elaborated.
"Scientific tasks will undoubtedly be present but the main thing during the first flight will be to ensure safety and test all the technologies of such flights to make them regular in the future and, perhaps, somewhat easier," the cosmonaut said.
Dubrov said he had personally taken part in some work on the future Oryol manned spacecraft being developed for Russia’s lunar missions. He said that he was eager to see the spacecraft during its flight.
"Should I have a chance to pilot it in this flight, this would be great," the cosmonaut said.
