MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Heavy snowfall has grounded airliners at Moscow’s Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports as at least 21 flights have been delayed, the spokesman for the Emergencies Ministry told TASS on Thursday.
“The officer on duty at the Trasport Ministry officially confirmed that 21 flights have been delayed at Moscow’s three airports,” Alexander Drobyshevsky said. “The passengers have been informed (on the cause of the delays), air carriers have provided them with food and other essentials.”
The airports are reported to be permitting take-offs "depending on the weather".
“Crew captains are making decisions on whether or not to land at their own discretion,” he said.
Railway transport has been operating in a routine mode and “there are no delays in passenger and freight trains,” Drobyshevsky said.
