MOSCOW, May 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia hopes the new Indian government will continue the previous course for consolidation of relations within the privileged partnership with Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday amid the parliamentary election in India.
The interim results announced indicate the clear-cut victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The voting took place with citizens’ free and active expression of will, without grave violations of electoral procedure, the statement says.
The Ministry expressed confidence the two countries would make joint efforts for further development of multilateral Russian-Indian ties “based on a solid foundation of mutual trust and common character of long-term national interests”.
