Two civilians killed as Ukrainian troops shell Volnovakha in DPR

They are a man born in 1975 and a woman born in 1976, the republic’s mission to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes reported

DONETSK, January 20. /TASS/. Two civilians were killed when Ukrainian forces shelled the city of Volnovakha in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) late on Thursday, the republic’s mission to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes said.

"The following information about civilian casualties, which occurred on January 19, was received via operative channels of the DPR JCCC: a man born in 1975 and a woman born in 1976 were killed <…> in Volnovakha," the mission said on its Telegram channel.

According to the mission, two rockets were fired from a Ukrainian multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) towards the city at 9:00 p.m. Moscow time on Thursday.

Head of the district administration Konstantin Zinchenko told TASS later that Ukrainian forces were carrying out a massive shelling attack on downtown Volnovakha, where a residential building is on fire. He added that the shelling has been going on throughout the day, with some private residential buildings damaged.

Later, the DPR mission to the JCCC said a school, a gas trunk and several houses were damaged as a result of the shelling.
