Strategic security, including in space, remains area for US-Russia dialogue — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov added that Russia will formulate a position on the US initiative for a resolution in the UN Security Council on the non-deployment of nuclear weapons in space when it familiarizes itself with the draft

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Strategic security issues, including in space, are the main potential area for dialogue between Russia and the United States, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The main potential area for dialogue between the United States and Russia is precisely issues of strategic security, which includes the issue of space," he said.

Commenting on the US initiative for a resolution in the UN Security Council on the non-deployment of nuclear weapons in space, the spokesman explained that the Russian side will formulate a position on the document when it familiarizes itself with the draft. "As for the draft, we need to wait, familiarize ourselves with it, read it and then already formulate a position," he pointed out.

The day before, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that the United States would submit the resolution to the UN Security Council for a vote next week and expected a positive Russian decision on the initiative.
