Russian troops, FSB thwart Kiev’s attempt to attack borderline regions

It is reported that the Kiev regime’s terrorist formations were pushed back by active operations of units from the Western Military District’s border protection forces, suffering heavy losses

MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. Russian troops jointly with the Federal Security Service (FSB) thwarted an attempt by the Kiev regime to attack borderline regions, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.

"This morning, units of the Russian Armed Forces operating jointly with units of the FSB’s Border Guard Service thwarted an attempt by the Kiev regime to break through into Russia’s borderline territory in the Belgorod and Kursk Regions," the ministry said in a statement.

The Kiev regime launched its attack at about 3 hours in the morning Moscow time after intensive shelling of civilian facilities. Ukrainian militants supported by tanks and armored vehicles attempted to break through into the territory of the Belgorod Region simultaneously from three directions near the communities of Odnorobovka, Nekhoteyevka and Spodaryushino. Russian troops repulsed all the Ukrainian attacks in their self-sacrificing actions, the ministry specified.

"The enemy was hit by air, missile and artillery strikes. The Kiev regime’s terrorist formations were pushed back by active operations of units from the Western Military District’s border protection forces, suffering heavy losses. No violations of the state border were allowed," the ministry stressed.

Overall, roughly 60 Ukrainian terrorists were destroyed near Odnorobovka in the border area on Ukraine’s territory, along with three tanks and an armored personnel carrier near Nekhoteyevka and two tanks near Spodaryushino, it said.

"In addition, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:25 a.m., four attacks by Ukrainian subversive and reconnaissance groups that attempted to break through into the borderline territory near the settlement of Tyotkino in the Kursk Region were repulsed. The enemy was pushed back, suffering heavy losses," the ministry said.
