MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. The US presidential campaign already displays high tension and sharpness, and it will not go without surprises, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in an interview for the International Affairs magazine.

"Let us wait for the American elections. There is still a long way to go. And it is unclear how the presidential campaign will unfold. It already displays high tension and sharpness. Clearly, it will not go without surprises," he said.

"We are mere observers who do their best not to miss any important moments for our own understanding of the events. We do not influence the elections process and we have never tried to," Ryabkov added. "[The US] uses a mythical 'Russian menace' to resolve their own domestic policy issues. I admit that something of a sort may happen in the future as well."
