Kremlin calls for 'patience' on Putin's 2024 presidential bid

Dmitry Peskov did not comment on the Kremlin’s vision of the campaign and its outcome

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. There have been no statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about his intention to run for president in the upcoming elections so far, it’s important to "be patient," Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"So far there have been no statements from Putin, so let's be patient here," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Peskov did not comment on the Kremlin’s vision of the campaign and its outcome. "I consider this part of the question absolutely inappropriate. We have all the rights and duties granted by the Constitution to citizens in connection with the election campaign," he said.

The Federation Council at a plenary session on Thursday adopted a resolution to schedule presidential elections in Russia for March 17, 2024, it will come into force from the moment of its official publication. According to the electoral legislation, the Federation Council decides on the date of the elections. The upper house of parliament sets the date no earlier than 100 days and no later than 90 days before the election day.
