Tougher anti-terrorist measures necessary at biologically dangerous facilities — official

Nikolay Patrushev pointed out that it is necessary "to increase the coverage of the population, including migrants and refugees, vaccination and re-vaccination, to ensure that large venues are hygienic"

VORONEZH, November 16. /TASS/. Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev has called for tougher anti-terrorist measures at biologically dangerous facilities at a meeting on security in the Central Federal District.

"Taking into account the risks and threats to biological security, I ask the heads of the subjects of the federation in cooperation with the federal executive authorities to ensure, first of all, that biologically dangerous facilities be protected against terrorists," he said.

According to Patrushev, in order to prevent the deterioration of the sanitary and epidemiological situation, it is important to minimize the penetration of new infections into Russian territory, thus creating a "sanitary shield." "It is necessary to develop a system for monitoring biological risks, preventing and elminating biological threats, neutralizing the fallout from their use; to ensure the work of the necessary number of radiation and chemical monitoring stations of civil defense facilities in the regions; to expand the production of domestic vaccines and drugs against infections," he listed.

The security official pointed out that it is necessary "to increase the coverage of the population, including migrants and refugees, vaccination and re-vaccination, to ensure that large venues are hygienic; to bring cattle burial grounds, especially sybium, under proper sanitary condition."

Patrushev also called for strengthening the biological protection of livestock facilities, holding health seminars and improving the population's sanitary awareness.
